Alibi is a lyric pop-like tune, save the sharp five major seven harmonies throughout.


Ara’s Waltse is a waltz with several bars of 4/4.


B Material is a high-velocity angular interval melody.


Hopkinsu is a tonal waltz in lead-sheet format.


XYZ, for violin, violoncello, double bass, marimba, and percussion, was composed in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland at College Park.


Thicker Thinner is a 5/4 funk piece with a moderately angular intervallic/rhythmic melody. Listen to a basic GarageBand realization of melody and harmony.


U is a 5/8 and ¾ piece based on Venezuelan Merengue.

Try Me is a straight-8th note 4/4 slash chord piece composed for the TU Big Band and Jim Snidero.

Almost Tea was written for double bass and guitar playing harmonics, percussion providing groove at the player’s discretion, and horns/piano doubling a single melodic part.

China Dolls was written in tribute to the exceptional reading ability of the Towson

University Jazz Faculty horn section. It is a highly challenging predominately sixteenth note based line in 4/4 with numerous groupings of 5s and 7s.


Despite Amnesia was written for Jim McFalls as a solo feature on a faculty recital in Fall 2003.


If They Asked features bass and tenor saxophone while guitar and trombone are relegated to the boom-chick foundation, -but in 7/4.


Lefty was originally called Concerto for Double Bass and Piano Left Hand. It uses the 3 horns as accompaniment only. Bass and piano are featured throughout.


Microstew is a 2-horn chart with Kenny Wolleson influenced groove.
