Toriyama, and Davis ...Squashua, in cd form, is available once again! Order here for only $11 (including shipping), at cdbaby.com, or through digital download at itunes.com.
Squashua features groove-based interpretations of originals, pop music, and popular symphonic repertoire. It has received rave reviews from Mike Stern, Dennis Chambers, Mick Goodrick, Cdbaby, and countless others. Well, we could count them, but we don't want to.

Walking on the Moon
"Giant
steps are what we take..." Many guitarists up their solo vocabulary
with a transcription of Tim Miller's solo here. Excerpts of it shape
etudes on the Begin Improvising pages. This is an excerpt from the 2002
cd entitled Squashua. Digital Downloads are available through itunes. Cds are for sale at http://cdbaby.com/cd/joshuadavis.
Fragile
This Sting cover is a favorite for airplay. Vardan Ovsepian is featured as he shifts through the melody in multiple keys. The varied keys were a spontaneous and therefore unannounced decision during recording. Listen to the bassist scramble to catch the changed key as the piece begins. This is an alternate take from the 2004 cd entitled Squashua.

Mick
Goodrick, Vardan Ovsepian, Take Toriyama, and Joshua Davis, playing a
Berklee College of Music faculty recital on March 11, 2002. Mick was
very generous with playing and sharing his music over many years of
teaching at Berklee together. He has been a life-changing teacher and
inspiration to so many. We are all grateful. Vaguely Asian, a Steve
Swallow piece on Noisy Old Men, is quoted here.
